My Fashion Story
Hey beautiful people, I decided to do a post to share something really exciting with you, I made a gorgeous satin halter neck dress for the first time in the space of a day!!! Why is this an achievement for me? Well, I love style and fashion, I post a lot of looks on my Instagram as well as on style189, so I decided to take it a step further in 2018. I’ve read fashion books on design, different styles and drawing, but I really wanted to learn how to make my own clothes.
Since the beginning of 2019 I have been going to school to study garment construction, I enrolled at one of the best and prestigious Fashion schools Villioti, owned by the Well-known High-end Fashion, Couture designer & Creator Mr. Spiro Villioti in the fashion capital of Hyde Park( that’s where most Fashion weeks happen 😊). I had never been more certain about a decision; this is what I wanted to do, and I was excited for the Journey ahead.
The first few weeks were tough as I missed a few classes whilst galivanting in New York, upon my return I was overwhelmed by the amount of catching up and learning I had to do. I felt discouraged and disappointed that I was just not getting it! It got to a point where I made up my mind and I was going to drop out of class as there was no way I would be able to be on the same level as everyone else in class.
Well, I am glad I did not give up and stuck it through Thanks to my Mom and My Partner who kept supporting and pushing me even if we fought, most days I didn’t want to wake up and go to school other days I would come home and burst into tears and finish a bottle of wine, it was hectic and stressful. So to cut this long story short, this is the dress I made, with no pattern, just measurements and drawing, I created 2 dresses because I messed up the measurements and material quite a few times but in the end I was able to create my first masterpiece and what an amazing feeling! Quite fulfilling, It is no where near perfect but to me, it is.
Thank you for reading, the Journey continues, always strive to develop yourself and your talents and know that it is ok to be on your own level.
With love
Zee
